Our story
From a lockdown kitchen to a Cape Town institution
In 2020, while most of the country was baking banana bread, two best friends were baking something rather different. They made a batch of cannabis cookies for one of their mothers, and her verdict changed the plan entirely: you two should be selling these.
What started as a joke over a tray of treats turned into one of South Africa’s best-known edible brands. Today Jane’s runs out of Salt Orchard in Cape Town – part bakery, part cafe, part dispensary – with a team of eight and a wholesale network that keeps growing.
It has stayed a family business throughout. The founders are still hands-on in the kitchen, the same people answer the orders, and customers are treated the way you would treat someone who came round for coffee.
