Buying THC vapes in South Africa

Three decisions determine what you should buy, and none of them is the strain. Cartridge or disposable. Distillate or cured resin. Half a millilitre or a full one. Get those right and the rest is preference.

Cartridge and battery, or disposable?

This is the decision with real money attached, and it depends entirely on how often you vape.

A 510 battery is a one-off R150 purchase that works with every cartridge we sell, and there is a five-pack at R500 if you want spares. After that first order you are paying R500 for a full millilitre instead of R750 to R900. If you vape regularly, cartridges are the clearly cheaper route. Disposables make sense if you vape occasionally, want nothing to charge or assemble, or are travelling.

Distillate or cured resin?

This is the quality decision, and we stock both from the same brand so you can compare directly. The Sloth Mode 1ml distillate is R800 and the Sloth Mode 1ml cured resin is R900. A hundred rand apart, and here is what the difference buys you.

• Distillate is highly refined THC with terpenes blended back in. It is clean, potent and consistent, and it is the more affordable option. Flavour comes from the terpenes that were added, not from the original plant.
• Cured resin is extracted from cured whole flower, so it keeps more of that plant's own terpene profile. The result tastes closer to the strain itself and feels fuller. It costs more because the input costs more.

If you are new to vaping, start with distillate. If you already vape and find distillate flat, cured resin is the upgrade worth paying for. The Runtz cured resin disposable at R750 is the cheapest way into that tier.

Sizes and what is actually in them

Our cartridges are labelled by volume and by cannabinoid content, so you can see what you are buying: the 0.5ml cart holds 475mg and the 1ml holds 950mg. A 1ml at R500 is R500 a millilitre; a 0.5ml at R350 is R700 a millilitre. The smaller cart costs more per millilitre, which makes it a way to try a strain rather than the economical choice.

Buying several? The bulk range takes 1ml carts to R400 each in a five-pack, 0.5ml carts to R240, and 1ml disposables to R500.

What to check in any South African vape

Counterfeit cartridges are the real risk in this category, and they are usually not a bargain. Buy from a seller who states the volume and the cannabinoid content, who will replace a faulty unit, and who you can actually contact. If a 1ml cart is being advertised well below R350, treat that as a warning rather than a deal. How vaping compares to other formats

Vaping comes on within minutes and tends to run one to three hours, which makes it the most controllable format: you can take one draw and reassess. Edibles sit at the opposite end, taking 30 to 90 minutes to arrive and lasting four to eight hours. Batteries and hardware are in ZOL Accessories.

Free nationwide shipping applies to orders over R2000. Below that, Pudo economy delivery is R82 over three to five working days and overnight courier is R160. Same-day delivery is Gauteng only, charged at Uber Package rates from our Sandton or Maboneng pickup points. Curbside collection is available at 239 Commissioner Street, Maboneng, Johannesburg, by WhatsApp confirmation before you arrive.
